why are people so selfish & greedy??



Interesting question. First of all, it is only fair to remember that by no means everybody is greedy. In fact, if you really look around everyone you know, I bet you will find that most of them are at least as much concerned with their families, friends, children etc, as they are with trying to gain material possessions. We are often told that humans are hopelessly selfish and grasping, always trying to grab things for themselves just like our ape ancestors; but is it really true?

I think most of us have a selfish and an unselfish side. If we are encouraged to be very materialistic and to measure happiness in terms of possessions, (as we are) then many of us will readily do that. But on the other hand, 9 out of 10 people, if convinced that someone needs their help -financial or any other kind -will give it
